EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

BS in Business Administration, Major in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Five plus years of Cost Accounting experience with a thorough knowledge of accounting theory.
Strong skills in MS Office, primarily excel and word.
Familiarity with EPICOR ERP system. Other software experience a plus.

DESCRIPTION:


  • Accurately maintain standard cost system within EPICOR and Windchill platforms, for parts, including labor, overhead and material cost. Work with engineering, sales, and purchasing staff to determine cost of new products.
  • Responsible for performing the annual update and analysis of the standard costs for all products. This includes updating new purchased and manufacturing costs during the fiscal year.
  • Prepare variance analysis, primary finance interface with production staff to analyze and correct variances.
  • Complete manufacturing month-end close process. Responsible for preparation of journal entries for monthly closings.
  • Complete reconciliations, accurately and timely for inventory and related accounts.
  • Assist month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, including external audits.
  • Prepare and analyze excess and obsolete inventory reserves, including preparation and posting of required journal entries.
  • Analyze cycle counts on a monthly basis for the preparation of financial statements and the Bluebook. Assist in actual cycle counts when requested.
  • Monitor inventory in system for negative quantities and parts without standard cost. Prepare weekly inventory report, (GIV report), each Monday morning to monitor inventory levels, negative balances, inspection, and open jobs.

  • Assist in the preparation of standard and specialized financial reports for internal and external requirements.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the preparation of the Board Bluebook and related analyses.
  • Assist in monthly forecasts and annual budgets for manufacturing activities when requested.
  • Assist with special projects and analysis when required.
  • Preparation and submission of all monthly, quarterly, and annual USG government reports relating to sales, shipments, inventory, capital expenditures and R & D.

    RESPONSIBILITY FOR PERSONNEL:

    No direct supervisor responsibility, but may be requested to direct a team of accountants or clerks. Position requires the ability to work with various levels of staff throughout the company.

    FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

    Important role in assuring the cost information is properly collected and disseminated. Monitors certain financial controls, that if not properly maintained could have considerable impact on profitability and reporting.

    RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION:

    Cost Accountant should be able to provide suggestions to improve current policies and procedures in operational areas of concern to the Finance Department.
