Position: Automation/Electrical Controls Engineer

Job Summary: As an Automation/Electrical Controls Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing automated systems for CNC machines. Your responsibilities include utilizing PLC control equipment, motion control technology, safety systems, vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and network communications to enhance the efficiency and profitability of our customers. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design control systems based on mechanical specifications and requirements.
  2. Provide troubleshooting support for electrical and control systems, including addressing alarms via phone assistance.
  3. Setup and design control panels for automation purposes.
  4. Maintain and update program backups for automation systems.
  5. Ensure compliance with NFPA safety standards in the layout and design of electrical controls.
  6. Proficiently manage pneumatics and hydraulics systems.
  7. Perform reprogramming tasks for engineering modifications and enhancements.
  8. Program new installations involving automation, material handling, and robotics.
  9. Work extensively with PLC logic and controls.
  10. Edit and maintain electrical schematics and drawings using CAD software.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD Drawing.
  • Strong understanding of electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledgeable in Servo Control, Hydraulics Systems, and electrical design.
  • Familiarity with PLC Ladder Logic (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Direct Logic).
  • Preferred experience in motion and safety controls, including E-Stop and Door Safety mechanisms.
  • Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).
  • Bonus points for robotics knowledge or experience.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently.
  • Excellent customer support and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for technical support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college education preferred.
