Position: Senior Mechanical Machine Designer

Job Summary: As a Senior Mechanical Machine Designer, you will play a key role in the creation and maintenance of mechanical equipment layouts, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BoM), mechanical components, and construction documents. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient functioning of our systems. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain mechanical equipment layouts, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
  2. Design mechanical components and mechanisms with precision and attention to detail.
  3. Create construction documents for designed components, including detail drawings.
  4. Provide troubleshooting support for electrical and control systems via phone assistance, including alarms.
  5. Setup and design control panels for automation purposes.
  6. Maintain and update program backups for automation systems.
  7. Ensure compliance with NFPA safety standards in the layout and design of electrical controls.
  8. Proficiently manage pneumatics and hydraulics systems.
  9. Perform equipment reprogramming for engineering changes and improvements.
  10. Program new installations involving automation, material handling, and robots.
  11. Work extensively with PLC logic and controls.
  12. Edit and maintain electrical schematics and drawings using CAD drawing software.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical machine design, particularly with machine tool accessories/equipment.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently create detail drawings of parts and assemblies for manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in working with pneumatic and electric actuators.
  • Preferred experience with Swiss type lathes, Citizen, and/or Miyano machines.
  • Bachelor of Science or Associates degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to designed components.
  • Capability to specify proper tolerances to achieve desired fits of components.
  • Ability to work with periodic/minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Effective collaboration skills, capable of working individually and within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
