Job Description


The Senior Accountant will ensure financial statements accuracy by setting up internal control and adopting proper policies for financial reporting. Must possess strong time management and organizational skills as well as proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Responsible for performing account analysis to ensure financial information has been recorded correctly in accordance with GAAP. Perform mark-to-market calculations of the company's position. Interface and assist with external collateral and financial audits.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Execution and analysis of daily net position report
  • Monthly consolidation and presentation of financial results to top management
  • Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts on a recurring basis; including posting monthly journal entries, providing variance analysis, and investigating and determining potential impacts of different activities on financial statements
  • Work closely with the controller and other members of management to ensure good accounting practices by developing rules and procedures for others to follow
  • Prevent inaccuracies in financial statements by setting up internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting
  • Analyze profitability by product and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly closing reports; forward book Mark to Market and Validation reports; journal entries such as accruals, depreciation, amortization and other activities related to the closing process
  • SG&A variance and trend analysis; Daily review of MTM accruals; Lead Bank and Financial Audits
  • Perform monthly inventory reconciliation and review of inventory aging and making suitable observations and recommendations
  • Conduct account reconciliations and analysis; Prepare annual budgets and other financial reports
  • Execute contract review to ensure price and MTM formulas are correct on all contracts


Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance
• 3-5 year's prior Accounting experience
• Futures and mark to market proficiency highly preferred
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities
• Position requires the ability to work independently and as a team player
• Strong computer skills; Excel proficiency is a MUST; fully bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
