Job Description

A pharmaceutical company headquartered in Somerset County is searching for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant position reports directly to the Assistant Controller and works with the Assistant Controller to manage and monitor the accounting team's monthly close procedures. The Senior Accountant will take ownership of many of the Company's general ledger accounts and have an active role in the monthly reporting analysis and in ad hoc reporting.
The Senior Accountant Responsibilities include the following

  • Supports the monthly, quarterly, and annual period closing processes by preparing journal entries, reviewing general ledgers, and preparing account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Assists with monthly close reporting procedures, including intercompany elimination journal entries and consolidation reporting.
  • Prepares monthly and ad hoc financial reports for management by analyzing pertinent financial data.
  • Assists with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and reporting on variances.
  • Maintains and updates deferred rent and tenant improvement allowance schedules.
  • Assists with annual audit by preparing supporting schedules and providing detailed support for auditor selections.
  • Collaborates with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other departments
  • Conducts accounting research; recommends to management any relevant updates to accounting policies or financial reporting.

Qualifications we are looking for in the Senior Accountant Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' accounting experience with an emphasis on reporting and financial analysis.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookUps, etc.).
  • Ability to work under pressure and perform several tasks concurrently in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as superior attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • A proactive person who can multi-task, think creatively, work independently, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
