Job Title: 1st Shift Operations Manager
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Vice President of Operations
Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is to plan, direct, and coordinate all shift operations while ensuring success for the other shifts. They will be responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. The Operations Manager will manage and provide training for a Production Manager, supervisors, and other indirect reports. The Operations Manager is ultimately responsible for compliance with CGMP's, meeting daily schedule attainments of their shift goals while striving for continuous improvement, supporting other shifts and departments. The operations of the plant include but are not limited to the processing and packaging of various powders, tablets, and capsules in the dietary supplements manufacturing space.
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all operations are manufactured in a correct, cost effective, and timely manner in alignment with specifications, quality requirements, and scheduling
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices that guarantee organizational well-being, quality, and output
  • Ensure that all workings are manufactured in a correct, cost effective, and timely manner, in alignment with specifications and quality requirements
  • Able to forecast out and remove obstacles before they impact the operation while setting up the other shifts for success
  • Outline, improve, create, and implement all related SOP's and GMP's
  • Create, implement, and audit CAPA's
  • Examine various metrics to improve profitability
  • Oversee, perform, and set quality controls
  • Monitor production KPI's while holding the team accountable for results
  • Improve, maintain, and enforce the teamwork mentality across and within all interdepartmental communication and actions
  • Staff, train, and supervise the management team while supporting Human Resources and maintaining company policies
  • Improve retention rate by working closely with Human Resources and reviewing policies and practices
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned


Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • KPI development, oversight, and implementation experience
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting, metrics, SOP's, and GMP's
  • Basic IT skills (databases, MS Office, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Experienced in performance management
  • 2+ Years in operational management with proven results
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Delegation, accountability, and initiative
  • Communication skills and technical writing
  • Sound judgement and decision making
  • Ability to lead and lead by example in all areas
  • Conflict Resolution and Management
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited educational institution
  • 2-year minimum experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a regulated industry (such as FDA)


Performance:

  • Attendance and punctuality are a must as ongoing production scheduling is vital to the rest of the company
  • Must have a positive attitude in order to motivate the personnel and be able to lead by example
