Full-Time
Purpose:
To manufacture, prepare, inspect, program, and rework all Lathe work with minimal supervision.
Product:
Manufactured products that meet customer demands and expectations, produced with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Metrics:
- Minimize downtime
- Reduce defects to zero
- Maximize throughput
Essential Duties:
- Manufacture parts on demand, ensuring they meet extremely high-quality standards, requiring independent judgment.
- Assess quality requirements and produce parts with a strong focus on General Manufacturing Expectations (GMEs).
- Perform complex tasks including manual programming, with comprehensive knowledge of materials, material removal techniques, rates, and general shop practices and procedures.
- Mentor and train junior Lathe operators to enhance their skills and performance.
Evaluation Standards:
- Achieve minimal machine downtime, zero defects, and minimal supervision.
- Ensure high throughput, zero defects, and high customer satisfaction.
- Minimize downtime and increase throughput.
- Improve employee quality and skill levels through effective mentoring.
Skills:
- Computer Proficiency: Ability to learn and use Visual software, manufacturing software, and word processing programs.
- Communication: Strong command of the English language with clear and easily understood diction. Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports, letters, emails, and faxes. Capable of speaking effectively in both one-on-one and group situations and working well in a team environment.
- Reasoning: Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format. Capable of prioritizing tasks, multitasking, and problem-solving.
Education and Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: At least 3 years of CNC Lathe experience, with job shop experience and/or training in turning, tooling, materials, general shop math, geometric tolerances
- Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in calculating figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. High-level machine shop math skills.
- Lathe Operator A: This is the highest level for Lathe Operators, requiring excellence in all of the above areas.
