Position Overview
The Wastewater Operator manages the daily operations of our wastewater treatment process, which is an essential part of the Electrocoat procedure in the Finishing Department. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and multitasking individual capable of ensuring the effective and efficient treatment of wastewater.
Position Responsibilities
• Promote safety as the top priority for all employees
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize the wastewater treatment process
• Ensure proper safety procedures are followed and train others accordingly
• Perform jar test procedures and operate hydraulic filter presses
• Remove metals from wastewater using coagulants, flocculants, and pH adjustment
• Manage solid waste and prepare DOT containers for shipment
• Track and organize inventory of wastewater treatment chemicals
• Ensure compliance with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Discharge Permit
• Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Grade 2 Industrial Wastewater Operator Certification required (Grade 3I preferred)
• Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proven ability to troubleshoot both electronic and mechanical equipment
• Ability to handle challenges and complete assignments efficiently
• Familiarity with industrial controls and instrumentation is preferred
• Team-oriented with a hands-on approach to work
• Positive attitude, strong judgment, and excellent time management skills
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in high-noise environments and wear hearing protection
• Manual material handling, including gripping, squeezing, and pinching
• Ability to stand for long periods of time regularly
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle tools or controls, reach, climb, or balance
• Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds
