Project Leader - Senior Formulation Chemist
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for developing coated film products, including creating formulations, testing products, coordinating production scale-up, and other tasks related to product development.
Requirements: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to visually analyze written materials, computer data, and lab experiments; physical capability to operate various lab equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead assigned projects to create and improve formulations, coatings, and other components for new or existing film products based on requests from customers or sales teams.
- Research and test combinations of paper, coatings, chemicals, binders, pigments, and other materials to determine their feasibility in new or enhanced products.
- Formulate new product recipes and conduct experiments to test performance characteristics, ensuring alignment with product specifications.
- Oversee production ramp-up for new products by translating lab formulas into full-scale production versions, working closely with production teams for testing and initial production runs. Resolve any production issues as they arise.
- Analyze company and competitor products by conducting lab tests to evaluate performance, determine production feasibility, and compare product attributes.
- Serve as a key liaison among the company, vendors, and customers, discussing product performance, future requirements, and raw material quality with relevant stakeholders.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position or as requested by the supervisor.
Education: B.S. in Chemistry
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in coating formulation development, including project planning
- Proven leadership abilities
- Strong communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of coating processes
