Process Engineer
Position: Manufacturing Process Engineer
A well-established manufacturer specializing in precise and complex aerospace components is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer. With over seventy years in business and based in Westfield, MA, our company fosters a team-oriented environment where you can leverage your skills with state-of-the-art technology. Job Summary: This role is centered on developing, supporting, and enhancing manufacturing processes for our products.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and document manufacturing plans (Job Travelers) for machining, special processing, assembly, and inspection operations.
- Manage product configurations and any configuration changes.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for necessary supplies, materials, and hardware.
- Issue RFQs for materials and services essential to job completion.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, enhance manufacturability, and reduce scrap.
- Help develop and implement systems to optimize all stages of the production process.
- Communicate routinely with customers and suppliers to ensure smooth production.
- Lead the RFQ quoting process, collaborating closely with Business Development, Administration, and Programmers to assess feasibility and manage the entire quoting cycle.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing or a related field.
- Proficiency in key manufacturing processes, including turning, milling, and grinding.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage changes and adapt to evolving demands.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to assist in other areas as needed.
- Basic knowledge of special processes, such as heat treating, plating, and non-destructive testing.
- Skilled in interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficiency in CAD and solid modeling software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
