Fabrication Technician
Job Description
•Ability to follow/understand electrical schematics and layout signal and instrumentation components for a 19inch chassis.
•Does not typically deal with 115vac but may install terminal blocks and fuses for AC single phase components in the 19in chassis.
•Mounting electrical components on 19in panels that are installed in data system consoles.
•Proficient with use of soldering iron, desoldering methods, heat gun, shrink tubing, sleeving, various hand tools for wire preparation.
•Familiarity with hand crimping tools, various lug sizes, pin insertion/extraction tools for aircraft connectors.
•Selection and ordering of electrical switches, <50v instrumentation terminal blocks, dc/ac relays, fuses and other parts from supply houses.
•Able to install wires onto all the above components and label them properly using shrink labels or other means provided.
•Ability to design or modify Aluminum panels using online software.
•Ability to fabricate harnesses/cables from schematics.
•Able to checkout a harness for quality control and document that it has been done.
•Familiarity with design/purchasing/records folders and what goes in each one.
•Knows how to weigh items for shipping, can use the label lamination machine, familiar with shipping tape roller for closing up boxes.
•Familiar with many types of wire gages, insulation ratings, color codes for low voltage wires.
•Familiar with DIP wire wrap tools and chip pin labels.
•Knowledge of shielding techniques for instrumentation
