Director of Commercial Credit

SNI Financial Austin, TX (Onsite) Full-Time

We are currently seeking a dynamic leader to lead our Commercial Credit Department.   The Director of Commercial Credit is a key member of the Bank's management team and will be located at our Austin Banking Center.

The Director of Commercial Credit oversees the entire lending process, including the initial application and review, underwriting and approval or denial of the request.  The Director of Commercial Credit will analyze current credit data and financial statements of new and existing customers to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money and prepares reports with this credit information for use in decision-making. 

This position is responsible for monitoring repayment progress, collections for delinquent accounts, and manages the Credit Department. Coordinate and administer the training and development activities for the credit department bank wide. Oversee all aspects of personnel-related duties for the credit analyst team (assessments, new hires, disciplinary actions etc). This position reports directly to the Chief Credit Officer (CCO).

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Ensure that all required loan request information is in hand to assign work to analysts and begin the underwriting process; Address any loan package informational deficiencies and/or loan request structural issues; Assess the ongoing status of active and inactive credit requests, schedule completion dates for active credits and prioritize individual analyst workloads to meet lender/customer requirements
  2. Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all job-specific training requirements in a timely fashion.
  3. Plan, develop, and provide training and credit analyst development programs, using knowledge and the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  4. Develop testing and evaluation procedures.
  5. Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  6. Complete loan memorandums, including credit analyses and summaries of loan requests, and submit to loan committees for approval.
  7. Analyze financial data such as income growth and quality of management to determine expected profitability of loans.
  8. Prepare reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  9. Compare liquidity, profitability, and credit histories of establishments being evaluated with those of similar establishments in the same industries and geographic locations.
  10. Evaluate customer records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity.
  11. Review credit underwriting memorandums for completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of loan structure, lending conditions, assigned risk rating, etc. Discuss and resolve underwriting deficiencies or issues with Commercial Lender prior to submission of credit underwriting memorandum to appropriate lender or Loan Committee for approval;
  12. Complete and distribute Loan Committee Minutes and oversee the recording of loan approvals.
  13. Manages and coordinates the workflow and administrative functions of the Credit Department by working in concert with the Credit Administration Department Supervisor.
  14. Oversee all aspects of personnel-related duties and assignments by:   Reviewing resumes, selecting qualified candidates, conducting initial interviews, selecting candidates for second interviews and recommending candidates for hire; Preparing annual performance assessments; Evaluating the ongoing performance of each analyst and offering recommendations for salary progressions and promotions; Initiating and following through on disciplinary actions as prescribed by HR policy 
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor / management.
  16. Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  17. Adhere to all relevant security responsibilities as outlined in the Bank's Information Security Program and Written Security Program.
  18. Source and distribute relevant market analysis tools and data to appropriate bank personnel to assist in the underwriting and ongoing monitoring of the bank’s loan portfolio. 
  19. Manage contracts with service providers whose products are utilized in the credit underwriting and monitoring process.
