Mechanical Design Engineer
About Us:
We are a prominent company specializing in the manufacturing of high-precision shafts and chucks for the converting industry. Known for our ability to handle complex applications, we are committed to delivering outstanding performance and quality.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with 3-5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will be skilled in interpreting customer specifications, designing precision components, and working closely with clients to provide effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret customer drawings and specifications to meet project requirements
• Create detailed assembly and part drawings using Autodesk Inventor
• Communicate directly with customers about new orders, repairs, troubleshooting, and custom solutions
• Develop bills of materials and provide exploded views for better understanding
• Perform engineering calculations, including FEA analysis using Nastran, to ensure optimal shaft performance
• Calculate critical speed, stress, and deflection to verify designs
• Contribute to job status updates and progress tracking
• Approach designs with a strong focus on manufacturability, considering practicality and feasibility
• Review and assess 2nd party drawings for compliance and accuracy
• Measure customer shafts and components to ensure quality and precision
• Collaborate with shop floor personnel to evaluate components sent for repair
Core Competencies:
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of machine fits, tolerances, and machining processes
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and customer service abilities
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
