LabVIEW Programmer

JOB DESCRIPTION
Programmer 

Job responsibilities are as follows:

Labview Programming:
Responsible for creating and making changes to existing Labview programs, to include backing up software, editing the Word History documents which describe what changes were made. Creating block diagrams using Visio schematic package.

Calibration:
As time permits will assist other engineering personnel with calibration of equipment prior to shipment to customer. Will edit known good calibration procedures. You shall be responsible for editing procedures with changes, creating procedures for new jobs. Where appropriate you shall be responsible for including photos of the software screens and Visio diagrams for inclusion in manuals and calibration procedures.

Electronic/electrical repairs:
Will assist other engineering personnel with troubleshooting electronic equipment that is controlled or interfaces in some way with the LabVIEW system although not a primary responsibility.

Create I/O List for programmer:
When you are given a set of schematics you should be capable of creating an excel sheet listing all analog input, output, and digital signals. Each signal should have a unique name and voltage level, or current level associated with it. Operating range can be specified along with any scale factor.

Programming:
At times we use Automation Direct PLC systems for which you are responsible for creating and updating these programs.
You should be able to set the internal jumpers and program any smart panel meter we use in our designs.
You should be able to document the jumper settings and software setup and save in the appropriate location.
You should be able to create new LabVIEW programs or edit LabVIEW existing programs to leverage past experience. You are responsible for backups of the software changes made in the field at customer sites, update the Vortex history file for jobs worked on.
You should always adhere to our standard way of programming.
Do not change the look of the tester screen without consensus from management.
Always provide a 1/sec log file and a status file for items touched/pressed on the screen.
Always provide an operator and engineer logon.
Always save passwords and computer information in the History file for that particular job.
Any change to software should have a revision # shown on the screen.
Any change to software needs to be documented, refer to software quality control standard work.

Documentation/Manuals:
As time permits you shall be involved in the creation of an operators’ manual for products that Vortex creates and sells. These manuals shall be through, well organized and easily understood. You are expected to complete all forms listed in the design file standard work document as required for each job. You are responsible for updating the ‘History File’ for each job worked on.

INTANGIBLES:
You are expected to show up on time, work efficiently on each task, drive each task quickly to completion.
You are expected to ask questions of others who may help you if you are unable to complete a task.
If you complete all of your tasks you are expected to ask for direction if you do not know what to work on.
Other tasks may be assigned to you not mentioned here as the need arises.
