Job Description

Position Overview:  Reporting to the Product Development Engineering Manager, you'll lead projects from inception to launch, overseeing timelines, communications across teams, and overall project management.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize safety as the top concern for all employees and customers.
  • Collaborate with Project and Product Managers to define project scope.
  • Conduct on-site assessments with the Product Manager to understand job requirements, identify current practices, and pinpoint unmet needs.
  • Manage the intellectual property strategy from provisional to final patent.
  • Utilize New Product Development (NPD) tools to identify critical-to-quality (CTQ) targets.
  • Source internal and external resources for potential solutions that align with project goals.
  • Guide potential solutions through the NPD stage gate process, refining towards the best concepts for commercialization.
  • Design and conduct experiments to evaluate potential solutions' effectiveness.
  • Ensure the selected solution is manufacturable for commercialization.
  • Minimize solution costs while maximizing value and profitability.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to optimize new product success.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to develop and implement QAQC processes.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to plan the transition to manufacturing.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Measure success through patents, bill of materials accuracy, and final design performance.
  • Undertake other related tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Preferably 2 or more years of product development experience.
  • Proficient in Solid Modeling, preferably with SolidWorks.
  • Experience in new product development.
  • Hands-on aptitude, preferably in construction or mechanical fields.
  • Familiarity with Stage Gate development processes.
  • Strong PC skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma Black Belt training or principles.
  • Knowledge of applied statistics.
  • Creative, resilient, and adept at problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Commercially minded with a drive for project success.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
