Job Summary:

We're in search of a dynamic and driven Foundry Manager to join our esteemed team. This is a newly established, high-profile role crafted as part of our Plant Manager succession planning initiative. As the Foundry Manager, you'll take charge of the entire spectrum of foundry operations, spanning safety protocols, material procurement, and final product delivery. The ideal candidate possesses a solid technical background coupled with extensive leadership experience in the foundry realm. Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Quality: Collaborate closely with Safety and Quality leaders to harness Human Performance expertise, aiming for zero incidents in safety and quality.
  • Strategic Goals: Partner with the Plant Manager to devise and attain strategic objectives. Establish accountability, uphold values, and ensure policy adherence to meet company targets.
  • Staff Management: Lead the recruitment, selection, training, and performance evaluation of staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing.
  • Operational Strategies: Formulate functional objectives aligned with organizational goals, analyzing trends, and monitoring key metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive outcomes through collaborative team-based problem-solving, change management, and Lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at enhancing operations.
  • Financial Planning: Take ownership of key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet financial commitments.
  • Process Operation: Set operating parameters for foundry equipment based on formulations and raw materials, maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Implement and enhance key performance indicators to ensure productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Resource Management: Oversee material procurement, inventory control, and cost reduction strategies, troubleshooting operational challenges.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Furnace Maintenance: Collaborate with Maintenance to supervise and support induction furnace relining and maintenance, ensuring furnace integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Professional Development: At Bingham and Taylor, we prioritize learning and development for all team members. Stay abreast of industry advancements through educational workshops, publications, and professional affiliations, recommending enhancements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a foundry manufacturing environment operating induction melt furnaces.
  • Maintenance and/or engineering experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental laws applicable to the foundry industry.
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent is advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Production and Processing: Proficiency in raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost optimization techniques.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of machines and tools.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and production coordination.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, stooping, squatting, and navigation of various surfaces.

  • Work environment entails exposure to typical manufacturing areas requiring personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, and hearing protection.
  • Temperature variations may occur due to external factors and machinery, with short-term exposure to temperatures up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Industrial lighting is provided.
